FiP Membership
FiP is recognised by UKCP as an accrediting organisation within the Council for Psychoanalysis & Jungian Analysis (CPJA) Section.
All members must abide by the FiP Constitution, Code of Practice, and Code of Ethics.
Membership of FiP falls into three categories:
Full Professional Membership
This is open to practitioners of psychotherapy who are eligible to be registered with any of the following:
The Council for Psychoanalysis & Jungian Analysis (CPJA) Section of UKCP or the BCP or the ACP.
Associate Membership
This is open to any interested trainees registered with and currently undertaking a UKCP or BCP recognised training according to the criteria laid out for Full Members.
Special Interest Membership
This is available to other interested professionals, not necessarily qualified psychotherapists, by special invitation and at the discretion of the Executive. Such membership is offered on the condition that no claim should be made, either orally or in writing, that confers any qualification as a psychotherapist. Those applying under this category need to be recommended by a member of FiP. Both the applicant and the sponsor should in addition write giving reasons why an individual should be accepted under the 'special interest' rule, giving details of their relevant experience and the nature of their special interest.
Accreditation
An alternative route to full membership is via the accreditation process. This is open both to those who have accumulated a personal portfolio of academic and clinical experience, which meets the requisite standards, and to those from other sections who have additionally fulfilled the requirements for psychoanalytic practice.
All members have full voting rights.
